Laowa 10mm F2.8 Autofocus - A lens that I want

By luxian, 21 February, 2024

I'm a bit of a sucker when it comes to wide-angle lenses. When I bought my Sony 16-25 GM (version 1) lens, I used it almost exclusively for 2-3 months. I also find myself liking a lot of wide-angle shots of cities on all social media and photo-sharing platforms whenever I have a chance.

When I was in Japan, I was very close to pulling the trigger and buying the Laowa 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 Zoom. In the end, I postponed the purchase just because the price wasn't good enough to justify buying it from there (at home, it was similarly priced and I had warranty coverage). Also, the lens has some overlap with my current 16-35mm GM lens, so it felt a bit redundant as a zoom lens.

Now, they have released the new 10mm f/2.8 Zero-D FF AutoFocus, and my list of lenses I might buy has a new entry on the first spot.

There are plenty of reviews on YouTube already, but so far I only watched the following:

  • Christopher Frost: Laowa 10mm f/2.8 Autofocus Full-frame Zero-D lens review
  • Camera Conspiracies: There's Wide, and Then There's Laowa: 10mm f2.8 AF Review

The official video is also cool. If you have review recommendations for this lens, please post them in comments.
